The project is for a women’s apparel shop in Sendai, Japan.
I placed the walls diagonally to the site. The walls are too thin to stand on their own, so they are folded in two and fixed by the top of the crease to the ceiling so that they can be stable. These walls create a zigzag space in the shop.
The interior can appear as a chain of divided spaces. It can also appear to be a continuation of a single space. The character of the space changes according to the merchandise display.
The size of the wall is a little big to be furniture and a little small to be an architectural element. It is big enough to control the whole space and small enough not to be too strong.
