This is the renovation of traditional farmer's house that has been standing for about 120 years.
We placed a very large table in the hall of the house, an area that was previously used as a kitchen and is called ‘Doma’ in Japanese, as a kind of platform for everyday life. The table’s size is about twelve square meters. It was our challenge to use just one table to doing everything on, an ‘all-in-one table’.
We put some functions of kitchen, lavatory and stairs on it. You can leave everything half-done on it, watching TV, using PC, calling phone, writing something, reading and cooking. Of course, you keep a lot of things such as a remote-control device, notebooks, dishes, books, newspapers, etc. You can find some space left for doing something on it at any time because the table has 2.7 meter width and extends back a long way.
The client may use it more creatively than our expectations so it always makes us happy to visit him.
