This is a new house built on an odd-shaped site for a family of four.
The site faces urban scale buildings such as a parking area and a public pool. We though it would be better to keep some distance from them, but the client wanted to have a house open to the outside.
We placed three rectangular masses on the site, three quadrangles between the rectangles and one triangle at the center of the plan. The three rectangles are the masses used for the rooms such as living room, kitchen, bedroom, etc. The three quadrangles are courtyards. The single triangular volume holds a hall that connects the rooms and faces onto the courtyards with transparent glass. Though it is at the center of this house, this hall is very bright.
This house is closed to the outside at its periphery and open at the center; however, every room faces a courtyard as well as the room on the opposite side of the courtyard. We hope these conditions make every day a fresh experience in this house.
